Whenever you begin your search for a new set of tires, you come across a seemingly endless sea of choices to make. Some companies and brands will be ones you have not heard of. Antares Tires are one potential brand that meets this criteria, and today we will be looking into them and reviewing them for you to help cut down your choices a bit!
Antares Tire Company Background & Information
Antares Tires come to you based out of Canada, so the main place where they will be found is in chiefly in Canada. You might also see them trickle down into the United States as well, but North America is very much going to be the target market. Despite the fact that they are centered in Canada, though, you should know that this is not a company that makes the tires in Canada.
For the last ten years or so, as best as we can tell, they have been delivering tires from a plant in Qingdao, China to the North American market. Their main goal is to provide you with good, quality tires for a relatively low price, and that last part appears to certainly be the case.
Antares Tire Cost and Pricing
As is the case with many sets of tires that come out of China, there is a lower price to pay for them than what you would be asked to pay elsewhere. That is just the reality of the situation, as manufacturing costs are much lower there than they are here. It’s a major reason why there have been an abundance of companies open up operations in China in recent years and it’s why they will continue to do so.
With labor costs being cheaper than in more advanced nations, it’s easy to keep costs low, especially when you make just a few products. Antares is somewhere in the middle in terms of the number of products that they offer, so this also helps to drive down their prices.
With all of this said, we have seen lots of other brands offer much cheaper tires, so these are not the cheapest ones you’ve ever seen, so not everyone would be happy with the price you pay for their offerings. It’s the other stuff that should be more important to you, anyway!
Antares Tire Warranty
There is some good and bad news in regards to warranties for Antares’ offerings. It does appear that they do offer at least some recourse for you, but there are few specifics to grasp. We imagine that they would have a warranty on most- if not all- of their tires due to the higher price, relative to other Chinese ones, of course, but we can’t find much out about it.
Asking around is likely to be your best bet, but we do feel fairly confident that they do have something for you to take action with in the event that your tires don’t hold up as well as you’d like or expect them to.
Tire Options
Antares are not a company that leaves a lot of stones unturned. If you have a passenger car, SUV, or truck, you’re going to be covered with several options. They don’t have a ton of choices to pick from, to be fair, but they do offer a lot more than many do out there on the market. We feel that they number they have is a good, safe amount, though.
Sometimes, brands can overextend themselves by making too many different kinds of tires. Not only does this cause customers to be confused, it also can be an issue for the people making the tires as they never ‘get good’ at making any one thing. This does not appear be the case here. Still yet, there are options for winter time, for ‘normal’ road conditions, and even one offering for the mud as well. As far as finding these tires goes, it will not be the easiest ever to capture.
These tires re not likely to be carried by a whole lot of local dealers and it’s hard to imagine them being able to easily acquire them. You can always ask, but your best bet may just be to try and buy them online, if you are interested that is.
Antares Tire Technologies and Features
We have looked at some of the options that Antares offers, and from that information we can glean more about the tech and features that are at play for them. For example, the Comfort A5 is going to be your best bet if you are looking for a cozy, comfy, and quiet ride. Meanwhile, their winter tires are going to be great- actually remaining capable of flexing- when the temperatures get low so that you remain safe on roads that are slick and not the most ideal.
They even have tires that are made for all-seasons to perform. Those tires have deep, well designed tread patterns that ensure that you have extreme grip and that you don’t have punctures develop in all sorts of potential environments. So, as you can see, they are putting out tires that have some thought behind them- not the usual nonsense you see with some of the supremely cheap Chinese tires that flood the market.
Antares Tire Durability
One of the things that we like about Antares– and find to be fairly telling- is that they don’t offer incredibly cheap tires. Sure, they are in that affordable range, but they are not so low that you can’t imagine buying them for fear of your own safety. We know that China and tires is a big buzz word that sets off some people with thoughts of fears, but we don’t want you to be too scared.
All tires, regardless of where they come from, have the potential to go bad, not just ones from China. The truth is that some companies- big ones we might add- also come from there. So not all Chinese tires are bad or are rolling death traps. We don’t see any reason to believe that Antares tires are. They might not be the all-time best, but the price you pay reflects a reasonable amount of quality that others in this same sort of ‘cheap’ sector just can’t offer you.
Summary & Final Recommendations
If you are looking for a super cheap set of tires to go with, then these tires from Antares are not really that. While they do come in at a lower price than most out there, they are still well made and not going to be the type that are so affordable that they just can’t be any good. While they are made in China, we encourage you to do your own research and make up your mind, as we just don’t feel like that alone makes them a bad choice at all!
