Finding tires is far from the easiest thing that you can do. It’s hard enough if you are searching high and low for tires to fit your car. It gets even more difficult when you go out in search for something a little different. Today, we’ll be looking at a brand of tires that might just meet your expectations in that regard in the form of Armour Tires.
Armour Tire Company Background & Information
Armour Tires, as we know of them here in this part of the world, has been around for quite a long time. They date back to 1951. The full name of them is the Xuzhou Armour Rubber Company now, though when they began they were called “the Jiangsu Tyres Plant.” Because they have been around so long, they are adept at making tires and have become one of the largest companies in China and the world as well.
They employee over 3,000 people and have five plants that they produce tires out of. It’s estimated that they make over 3 million sets of bias tires per year; obviously that takes a lot of doing. They, as you can imagine, are not just shipping to China, with the USA, Europe, Australia, and South Africa also being key markets for them as well.
Their specialty is not that of road tires. Instead, they concentrate on agricultural, industrial, and truck tires as well. This sets them apart and means that if yo you’re ‘workin’ then they might just be your answer.
Armour Tire Cost and Pricing
There are a lot of pluses to making tires in China, and one of them is undoubtedly going to be the fact that they are much cheaper to make (and therefore) purchase. The reason why is pretty simple. Economics are vastly different in China. Labor costs are lower, and they also have other factors, such as government incentives, that can drive costs down to be fairly low.
Some Chinese brands also take short cuts to help make the price as minimal as possible as well. It’s hard to tell which do this, but we don’t want to make it sound like Armour does that, by any means. With all of that being said, we would put Armour in the lower end of pricing when it comes to working and equipment types of tires. Bigger, more well known brands are going to be much higher priced than them, so if you are looking for a deal and don’t mind taking a bit of a gamble, then you can certainly find it here with Armour.
Armour Tire Warranty
One big negative that comes along with Chinese tires in a ton of instances is that they don’t usually come with a warranty. And if they do so, they will not have much of one attached to them. With these tires, there does not appear to be a warranty at all. They could have one, but it will depend on who you buy them from. So, you’ll need to ask or do some research of your own on that one.
Armour Tire Options
As you can tell down below under the model section, the offerings that Armour have are pretty extensive. It’s hard to find companies that offer so much, but it’s also not a surprise. The guise of ‘work tires’ are very extensive, so you have to have quite a lot to meet the demands in most common tire sizes. There are tires that will help big rig trucks both on the road and off the road as well.
They’ve also got tires that are designed solely for tractors and other equipment that will be working out on the farm. If you are working outside, then there is likely something for you. Some brands that are similar to this one will also have indoor pieces of equipment as well, but that does not appear to be a niche that they also meet.
With that said, there is a very wide range of things that they do cover for you, so you should be fairly satisfied if this is the realm of tires you’re looking at. Despite the fact that they do concentrate quite a bit on the American market, we still believe these tires will be much harder to find than others. For one, they are not passenger vehicle tires.
Those represent the bulk of those carried by tire carriers and dealerships. Plus, they are lesser known, so that is also not going to help them. Online is probably going to be the best chance you have at securing them for yourself.
Armour Tire Technologies and Features
Technologies and features are a bit more limited when it comes to tires made in China in a lot of cases, especially if they are on the cheaper end of the scale. This brand is closer to the ‘cheap’ side, so you simply do not see as much put into them. That said, this brand does have a research and development center and training and testing facilities.
That is not always a given, believe it or not, so that does help put a feather in their proverbial caps. Having said that, don’t expect a ton of greatness here. You’re going to get a good, solid tire that is tried sand true. There will not be a ton of new bells and whistles.
Armour Tire Durability
With a name like Armour, you have better offer some semblance of durability, right? It makes you think of ancient knights wearing their chain mail. It wouldn’t do for them to not be durable, would it? One dent and they are done… not so much, huh? Anyway, with Armour Tires, it’s hard to say exactly what you are getting.
They have been around a long, long time, which tends to mean that they will last much longer than tires from new companies. It takes time for companies to get used to making tires. Plus, having been around so long means that they are doing something right, correct? You’d have a hard time believing they could have remained open for decades now if they didn’t have decent quality.
That aside, these tires should not be expected to be exceptionally long lasting when compared to huge brand names. They are much cheaper, so that is where the value is going to come from. It’s hard to get a ton of both, but you do get a reasonable amount of durability.
Summary & Final Recommendations
Finding a good, solid set of tires can be tough to do. It’s even tougher to do when you want to find tires for something other than cars, light trucks, or SUVs. If you’re going to turn to a Chinese company and you want a bit of a deal, you could do far, far worse than Armour Tires. They have a good reputation and have been around a long time, and that should help give you more confidence than many others can yield.
